Last Tuesday in ParisFormula One chief Max Mosley has been awarded France`s highest decoration, the Legion d`Honneur, for his services to motorsport as President of its ruling body the FIA for the past 12 years.
Mosley, 65, accepted the award from French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy at a ceremony attended by F1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone, the man who holds the F1 purse strings, in Paris on Tuesday.
At Tuesday`s ceremony Douste-Blazy told Mosley: "The Republic is tonight paying respect to your services to sport and automobile racing." He went on to single out Mosley`s drive to improve road safety.
Created by Napoleon in 1802 the Legion d`Honneur is awarded for gallantry in action or distinguished military service.
