BMW Williams racer may miss Interlagos
Nick Heidfeld could remain on the sidelines for the Brazilian Grand Prix after his Williams team revealed here Sunday that he has suffered his second injury in as many weeks.
Heidfeld, who has missed the last two races because of concussion from a testing crash, suffered a cracked right shoulder blade and dislocated fingers in a bicycle accident near his home in Switzerland.
He was training ahead of his planned return to the cockpit at the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paolo in two weeks` time but could now miss that event and possibly the season-ending Chinese and Japanese Grand Prix because of the latest incident.
BMW Williams team boss Frank Williams was told of the injury by a phone call from Heidfeld`s manager on the morning of the Belgian Grand Prix Sunday and a team spokesperson confirmed the injury following the race.
Heidfeld, 27, has been replaced by test driver Antonio Pizzonia in the last two races but the Brazilian has seen mixed success with seventh place in Italy last weekend marred by a collision with Juan Pablo Montoya today at Spa.
Montoya himself missed two races earlier this season with a similar injury to Heidfeld`s and admitted that he made too swift a return when he got back into the car at the Spanish Grand Prix in May.
