Next year we intend to be challenging for race wins
“A disappointing day to end a disappointing season,” was how Shuhei Nakamoto, Engineering Director at Honda Racing Development summed up last Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix, final round of this year’s FIA Formula One World Championship.
The past 12 months have seen BAR Honda slip to sixth place among the F1 constructors and that’s a move Honda is clearly determined to reverse in the years ahead.
“Formula One is undoubtedly the pinnacle of four-wheeled motor sport and is a great challenge, but it is not enough for us just to be here,” stated Nakamoto. “We, as Honda, have to work harder, be smarter and above all else refocus all our efforts during the winter on our goal of winning."
Chief Executive Officer, Nick Fry, is confident Honda`s recent acquisition of the team will produce big dividends in the future. “Although we clearly didn`t achieve the results we wished for in 2005, the team is stronger and more motivated than ever before,” he reports. “Next year we intend to be challenging for race wins with Jenson (Button) and Rubens (Barrichello) as team-mates."
