He won`t be back before the Turkish GPAn intense first day of tests for the 125cc class, under blue skies and with favourable temperatures, opened the IRTA test week at Jerez, yesterday.
No serious injuries on the first day with the exception of those suffered by Italian Michele Pirro in a dramatic crash in the afternoon: assisted by the Clinica Mobile medics in close co- operation with the local doctors, Pirro was initially transported to the Jerez hospital where a peroneal malleolus fracture and right ankle dislocation could be confirmed.
Back at the Clinica, he was prepared for the flight back to Italy, where Pirro will undergo urgent reconstructive surgery by the Imola hospital chief orthopaedic surgeon doctor Vicenzi.
Michele`s injury is very similar to that recently suffered by the Italian football star Francesco Totti. The prognosis would normally be 90 days, but the riders have already amazed us with extremely fast recovery times and there`s a chance that Pirro will be back on track at the Turkish GP – scheduled for the end of April.
