On second day in Jerez On the second day of testing for the 125cc teams at the Circuito de Jerez, scene of the first Grand Prix of the 2006 season, it was Mattia Pasini who went clocked the fastest lap of the day.
The Italian`s lap of 1`46.816 was just over a tenth faster than that of Lukas Pesek, on a day marked by last minute surges for time improvement and numerous crashes.
Among the fallers were Ranseder, Rodríguez (twice), Bradl, Conti, Di Meglio, Zanetti (twice),Masbou, Abraham, Pasini, Simón and Hernández. Stefan Bradl`s was the most serious, as he fractured the fifth metacarpal of his right hand. A simple bandage and brace were applied at the scene.
Under clear skies and a light breeze, which thankfully didn`t seem to affect the riders too much, it was Sergio Gadea who took to the track first, riding his first laps at 11.40am local time. The Spaniard was followed shortly by Pesek, yesterday`s fastest rider at theTest.
As a result of yesterday`s big crash, it now looks almost inevitable that Michele Pirro will miss out on the season-opening Grand Prix at the same circuit.
