Rizla Suzuki MotoGP racer John Hopkins recorded his fastest ever lap of the Jerez circuit in Spain, during day two of the Official MotoGP Test.
Hopkins clocked a fastest time of 1`40.791 during his 81 laps – bettering his qualifying time of 2005 by 0.035 seconds - and finished in third place overall.

He spent the majority of the day finding better front end feeling and turning for his all-new Rizla Suzuki GSV-R and worked hard on discovering the best chassis settings for the Spanish track. Hopkins` time was only bettered by Shinya Nakano and Loris Capirossi – both on Bridgestone shod bikes.

Team-mate Chris Vermeulen continued to impress, setting the 10th fastest time on only his second day at the circuit. His fastest lap of 1`41.110 was only a second off the day`s quickest time and showed again how quickly the rookie Australian is establishing himself in MotoGP. He worked hard with his technicians to improve rear grip and control strategies, and consistently improved during his 71 laps.

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP will have one more day of pre-season testing at Jerez tomorrow, where it will be concentrating on improving race distance consistency, before the season starts at the same Spanish circuit on Sunday 26th March.
