Dakar : Leg 5 - 819 km
Frenchman Cyril Despres clocked the fastest time of the day`s bike special, a 350km course between Ouarzazate and Tan Tan. The KTM Gauloises rider beat overall leader Marc Coma by 3`41" and Isidre Esteve by 5`18".
Peter hits back in style
Title holder Stephane Peterhansel (Mitsubishi) conquered the day`s stage in the car class. The Frenchman clocked the fastest time ahead of USA`s Marc Miller (Volkswagen), 1`12" adrift. Third was Nani Roma at 2`20". The overall lead remains in the hands of Carlos Sainz who finished 9th today.

Chagin again!
For the fifth consecutive time, Vladimir Chagin clocked the fastest time of the day. The Russian Kamaz driver beat his team mate and title older Firdaus Kabirov by close to 14`. Third is Karel Loprais, 23` adrift. Chagin now has a 1h30` overall lead on Loprais (Tatra).

Coma loses time overall
Overall leader before th start of the stage, Spaniard Marc Coma has lost time. He now has a 1`25" advantage on Cyril despres who moves up to second spot. Third is Esteve at 6`28"

Al Attiyah in trouble
BMW X-RAID driver Nasser Al Attiyah was seen pulled by an assistance vehicle. It appears the Qatari suffered engine failures between CP1 (km 100) and CP2 (km 229).
