After the fourteenth leg
fter 15 days pounding across the desert, the Volkswagen works team met journalists, sponsors and several family members who were waiting for the team at the finish of the stage.
Cornelia Quinkler visited the team at the invitation of Volkswagen and Jutta Kleinschmidt. She raced against the Volkswagen works driver Jutta Kleinschmidt with a team of horses in December on the TV show “Wetten dass…” and was narrowly beaten.

Back to civilisation
Many of the 78 team members spent most of the “Dakar” nights in the bivouac. The delight at being able to stay overnight in a hotel in Dakar was even greater. The favourite pastimes after arrival: Showering, bathing and “de-sanding” equipment and baggage.

Team reunited
Two team members had eagerly awaited the Volkswagen works team arrival in Dakar. After their retirement, Jutta Kleinschmidt and Fabrizia Pons had already reached the rally finish on Thursday. The two ladies obviously wanted to witness the team`s arrival at the finish line in person.
