At the start of Dakar 2006 Rally Raid
In the beginning, Madalena Antas and Jean Michel Polato, were to use a Nissan Patrol GR in the 2006 edition of Lisbon-Dakar marathon, but in the last minute, the plans changed, and a Nissan PickUp is the new “weapon” available to reach Dakar!

Madalena Antas is a young Cross Country Rally Driver, used to great challenges. After being twice ladies winner in the National Championship – with a Toyota Land Cruiser – she is now near to reach a dream; Starting the Dakar race, and arrive to Lac Rose the next month of January.

Promotech was the team in which Madalena took confidence, and she will be also helped by Jean Michel Polato, a fully experienced co-driver, that was several times in the Dakar, side-by-side with famous names, as Pierre Lartigue, Carlos Sousa, or Andrea Mayer.

After a first test in Zaragoça, were the drivers made the first contact with the “solid” Nissan Patrol GR, Promotech decided to propose Madalena a new challenge: Start the event with the new Nissan PickUp, that has the same engine, but less height, sequential gearbox and new front suspensions… that would allow the team a more comfortable drive along the more than 10000 Km of the race.

“I am very happy with this new challenge – said Madalena during the tests in sand and dunes made at Dubai, last week. - The car is going to be much easier to drive because there are less 500 Kg regarding the Patrol. About liability I am not concerned about it because Promotech is professional team and I am sure that they have chosen the best.”
