Three Accent WRCs in the Turkish ChampionshipHyundai World Rally Teams three cars have been bought by the Turkish partner manufacturer Hyundai Assan for the 2005 season.
Hyundai Assan constituted a new team called “Hyundai Assan Motorsports” on the very professional grounds including star drivers. Hyundai Assan, also has the technical support from the English teams technicians which served for the original WRC team.
As a starting point, Hyundai Assan Motorsports transferred last years Turkish champion driver Serkan Yazıcı as the lead driver. Serkan started his career in a Corolla WRC with Toyota Marlboro Team Atakan. Last Year, Serkan finished in 9th position in Rally of Turkey , which is part of the World Rally Championship. At the time, Serkan was driving a Focus WRC from Ford Rallye Sport Turkey.
In the first race of Turkish Rally Championship, the Hyundai Accent WRC lead the rally for a moment. However Serkans retired because of a fuel pump problem on the first day. The teams two other drivers - Ali Deveci et Ömer Tolon - finished in second and fifth places, respectively.
The Accent WRCs will also compete in the 2005 Rally of Turkey, which is part of the 2005 World Rally Championship. For the 2005 season, the team is supported by Pirelli, Shell, Adidas and VDF in Turkey.
