Nothing confirmed at the moment...
For a second consecutive year, Toni Gardemeister finished on the podium at the Monte Carlo Rally, the first round of the 2006 World Rally Championship. A very good performance by the Finn who is driving a Peugeot 307 WRC for private team Astra Racing.
Gardemeister almost clinched second place in this year`s Monte but World Champion Sebastien Loeb moved ahead of him in the very last stage of the event. The Finn can still be proud of finishing third, an excellent way to start his 2006 season.

“I was confident that we could try to keep him (Loeb) behind. But I know it`s very difficult, at least we tried,” mentioned the Finn. “The first stage was bad, it was very slippery, maybe I was too careful on the ice. Then we had a good fight with Seb, he was so quick, we had no chance to beat him.”

“When the conditions were good and I trusted the tyres, the car was very good, especially on the fast roads. When it was really slippery you could push the car. It wasn`t so bad, I was very happy with the car,” added Gardemeister.

After such a good result with Team Astra Racing, Toni Gardemeister admits that the rest of his season is still undetermined but his goal is to participate in as many events as possible.

“I hope we do a lot of rallies: all of them. At the moment I don`t know, maybe nothing. But I hope we know something soon. Sweden for sure, we don`t go. The entry is closed. We don`t know after that,” concluded Toni Gardemeister.
