Sweden Rallye 2006: Atolye Kazaz - FinishUddeholm Swedish Rally has been a promising start to the season for Team Red Devil Atolye Kazaz, with Kristian Sohlberg at the wheel of Subaru Impreza S10 WRC. Leg 1 of Sweden proved how strong the private team can be as Sohlberg – Lindström pair climbed to 8th place, just 8.1 seconds of Henning Solberg.
The thermometer going up and down minus two digit figures, Leg 2 started well for Team Red Devil Atolye Kazaz as Krisse set the 5th fast time on SS8. Having a close battle with Tuohino, Kristian wanted to keep it safe and he was more than happy to finish the day 7th overall. But unfortunately, he had to retire on the normal road heading for the final service of the day, due to an engine problem.
Kristian Sohlberg
“We started to lose power on the Hagfors Sprint, and the car started to misfire at the end of the stage. On the road section we started to lose pressure and eventually the cars just stopped. It was good to know how competitive we can be amongst M1 and M2 teams. We are looking forward to our next rally. It was really great to be back with Kaj, everything worked perfectly.”
Kaj Lindström
“It was a good start to the season until we had to retire. But looking forward to compete in next event. Team effort was very good and cooperation with our event engineer Darren Papworth helped us to improve the set up for Kristian`s driving style. Hopefully our next event is Rally Argentina from which we have good memories with Kristian from 2004, the event fits him pretty well.”
Ercan Kazaz – Team Director
“First we would like to thank everyone who called and text to support us for our season debut. Even if we couldn`t finish the rally, having the 7th spot on the timetables at the end of Leg 2 proves that we can compete at the highest level of motorsports. We will be getting ready for our next WRC event with Subaru Impreza S10. Our Ford Fiesta Super 1600 crew, Estonian Jaan Mölder and Katrin Becker did pretty well finishing the event 9th amongst JWRC drivers on their first event.”
