Sweden Rallye 2006: OMV Peugeot Norway - FinishAll`s well that ends well that is how the drivers of the OMV Peugeot Norway World Rally Team view their Swedish assignment. Despite rollovers on leg two both OMV drivers saw the finish in Karlstad.
Henning Solberg/Cato Menkerud reached eighth place overall and win WRC points in both driver`s and manufacturer`s championships. Thanks to the perfect work of Bozian Racing Manfred Stohl/Ilka Minor were able to complete the third leg and finish in 18th place.
WRC points in driver`s and maufacturer`s championships
On the second stage of the last leg Henning Solberg and Cato Menkerud once again faced an assignment outside of their car. Midway through the stage the wheel rim broke even though we hadn`t hit anything. For safety reasons we immediately exchanged the tyre, which naturally cost us some time, recounts co-driver Cato Menkerud.
But the loss of about three minutes doesn`t get OMV driver Henning Solberg down: The weekend was a tough affair but I`m happy that everything turned out fine in the end. This result consolidates our third place in the manufacturer`s championship.
Eighth place wins Henning Solberg one point in the driver`s championship and the OMV Peugeot Norway World Rally Team four points in the manufacturer`s championship since three of the seven drivers placed in front of Solberg haven`t entered the manufacturer`s WRC.
SupeRally psychologically important
After the rollover, the Peugeot 307 WRC of Manfred Stohl/Ilka Minor had been repaired within only 1,5 hours by Bozian Racing. Manfred Stohl draws a positive balance, even though luck was not really on the side of the OMV Peugeot Norway Team: I`ve learned a lot. It was important to see that we can keep up with the best here in Sweden, too. The restart was psychologically important each completed race kilometre is a lot of help. My thanks go to Bozian Racing. They did a perfect job.
