Angelo Medeghini and Barbara Capoferri with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII of the kome Sport team, finished the first leg of Rally Turkey, 4th round of the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship. In the last special stage of today, near Antalya, the crew of the Kome Sport team scored the best second time of Group N and the 11th time overall.
This morning at 6.10 am the drivers start measuring themselves on tough route of Rally Turkey. Today`s leg provided 8 Special Stages (148,14 km. The rain fall in the last few days made part of the special stages very muddy, but yesterday the weather improved and the ground today was almost dry.
Angelo and Barbara Medeghini started the leg well, but they had a puncture on SS 4, Perge of 22,28 km, and they lost approximately 4 minutes.
The team chose for SS 7 and 8 Pirelli tyres called “Racing”, but unfortunately it started to rain and the ground became immediately muddy and slippery, not suitable for this kind of road conditions.
In the late afternoon the crews left the mountains and moved to Antalya for the Super SS of 2.6 km. In this stage the crews were racing side by side. Angelo and Barbara Medeghini scored the best second time in Group N and the 11th time overall.
“It is a very nice though difficult race, that requires concentration and attention,” said Angelo Medeghini “There is an unsettled weather, this morning the special stages were almost dry, then it started raining and the rout got immediately muddy. We are very happy for the result obtained in the last SS of today. We lost time in SS 4 when we had a puncture, but we hope to make up for the delay tomorrow.”
Tomorrow`s leg will start al 7.00 am from Kemer and provide 7 SS (150,49 km), among these the longest SS of the rally, SS Sylion 29.58 km, that will be run twice. The leg will finish in Kemer again at 7.46 pm.
