Rally Mexico : SS 7 - Super SpecialThe drivers competed side by side two at the time against each other on the Autodromo de Leon for the Nextel Super Special, the final event of Leg 1. A new addition to Rally Mexico this year, the Super Special gives the spectators the opportunity to see the action from a different perspective.
The OMV Peugeot Norway drivers put a great show and finished one-two in front of the enthusiastic crowd. Manfred Stohl took the stage victory, 12 faster than his teammate Henning Solberg.
Sebastien Loeb finished in third position, four tenths slower than Henning Solberg. Nice surprise in fourth place, Stobart driver Matthew Wilson was particularly at ease on the Autodromo`, setting a very good performance, nine tenths of a second faster than race leader Petter Solberg in fifth position.
Mikko Hirvonen had to settle for sixth place after a long series of second places today. However the Finn is still second overall, just 48 behind Solberg.
Fumio Nutahara is the fastest in the Production class, taking eighth place only 22 slower than Dani Sordo in seventh.
In the race standings, Loeb is still third behind Hirvonen but the gap is getting smaller. The Frenchman is now only 47 behind the Ford driver and more than a minute ahead of Manfred Stohl in fourth place.
