Janne Tuohino brought the Skoda Fabia WRC 05 to the finish of the Rally of Turkey in 13th position. His overall placing was compromised by breaking the car`s suspension on a rock during Friday`s opening leg and the eight minutes of additional penalty incurred under the SupeRally rules denied Janne a possible top 10 finish.
Armin Schwarz withdrew from the event on Friday after suffering the same fate as Janne on the same particularly rocky section of road. In order to maximise the useful life of the car, the team decided not to continue under SupeRally.

“We lost the front brakes on the long second stage today so I had to drive using the handbrake only. It didn`t change our overall position but it meant we couldn`t challenge to move up one place at the finish. I`m looking forward now to Greece as that`s one of my favourite events and I hope that I can get a good result there.”

“This was our first time in Turkey but the result did not come up to our expectations. We had seen some improvements in the pre-rally testing that we were not able to reproduce on the rally in these different conditions and our chances of a good result were lost on the opening day. Despite this we are looking forward to Greece and we have another test before the event to prepare our three-car entry for another tough rally.”
In just three weeks` time the WRC crews will be in action once more and the relentless list of rough and demanding events continues. Next on the schedule is the Acropolis Rally (Jun 23-26), one of the oldest events on the calendar.
Armin Schwarz will lead the team as usual while the Škoda Motorsport World Rally Team will enter its second three-car team of the year with Janne Tuohino and Jani Paasonen driving the other Fabia WRC 05s. Armin and Janne will again be nominated for Manufacturers` points.
