In the Production category
Stepan Vojtech and Michal Ernst have every reason to be content with the result of the Corona Rally Mexico.
The Czech duo of the OMV CEE World Rally Team reached seventh place in the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship despite several minor problems. Thus they already scored two points at their first WRC outing on gravel.

Vojtech/Ernst experienced all highs and lows of rallying during the past three days. In the end the positive aspect won out and there is hope for another outing with a Production Car in the World Championship this season.

A long and winding road
Stepan Vojtech knew what to expect of his first WRC run on gravel. But the past 360 special stage kilometres were even tougher than the OMV driver had imagined. Vojtech: “It`s a tough road right from the beginning. And when you lack experience on gravel then it comes down to a hard fight all the way. But we gained experience with each kilometre and in the end we did rather fine already.” The OMV CEE World Rally Team had a lot of bad luck on day two when they had to park the Mitsubishi due to steering damage and were only able to reenter the rally on Sunday thanks to SupeRally. Vojtech: “That might have cost us one or two places. But I`m highly satisfied with seventh place. Two WRC points at the first rally on gravel do wet one`s appetite.”

Taking advantage of experience
The experience that the Czech duo of the OMV CEE World Rally Team has gained shall definitely be of advantage in the future. Vojtech: “It would be a pity not to carry on. The future lies in the World Championship and a continuous participation in the Production Car WRC would definitely be of advantage. We`ll try everything so that we might be able to compete even this year in New Zealand in the OMV CEE Team with Stohl Racing.”

Prior to that Stepan Vojtech and Michal Ernst will be competing in the FIA WRC round in Spain in three weeks – this time in the well-tested Peugeot 206 WRC and on tarmac where the Czech still feels more at home at the moment.
