‘Hopefully that problem has gone away now`
Competing in the World Rally Championship is hard enough as it is, but this weekend in Mexico, there was an additional problem for the competitors… Animals.
“On day one, on SS6, we saw four dogs, then yesterday you have the cow,” Sebastien Loeb`s co-driver Daniel Elena explained in the post rally press conference. “Manfred touched it, then Petter touched the dog. It`s very dangerous. If you don`t want to compromise the result, the solution is to check for animals on the stages.”

The Kronos co-driver`s views were echoed by Subaru co-driver Phil Mills. “On every stage we saw a dog, a donkey, a goat, cow… everything. I actually got quite concerned at one point. We`ve all seen what hitting an animal at high speed can do. We spoke to the organisers and today there was nothing at all. Hopefully that problem has gone away now.”

Kronos Citroën boss Marc Van Dalen was however delighted with the weekend as a whole as Loeb and Elena took the rally victory. "Today I`m so proud, first to be ready for Monte Carlo and then to make this result," he said. "I want to thank Sebastien and Daniel. We`re so proud to win our first WRC round. It`s a dream come true for everybody.”
