At the wheel of BSA`s Peugeot 307Alexandre Bengue will make his return to the World Championship in Spain, the next event on the WRC calendar. After Rally Catalunya, Alex will be at the start of the Tour de Corse, two asphalt events that perfectly suit the Frenchman`s great ability on a sealed surface.
With his usual co-driver Caroline Escudero, Bengue will reunite with team BSA, the squad that gave him the French Rally Championship title in 2003. Alex will drive a BFGoodrich-shod Peugeot 307, a strong package for his return in WRC.
“I completed a day of testing near Mâcon to get a basic set-up and I was immediately impressed with the Peugeot 307,” said Bengue. “Combined with the performance of the BFGoodrich tyres and the expertise of BSA, the motivation of the crew and the whole team around us, we should be able to achieve good results in Spain and Corsica.”
After completing four asphalt rallies last year with the works Skoda team (his best result was a sixth place at the Tour de Corse), Bengue will start his 2006 season with more valuable experience and a high level of motivation.
“Our goal is to remain in the World Championship this year, build on what we achieved last season and perform strongly on the events that we are now familiar with,” concluded the French driver.
