In the PCWRC categoryAki Teiskonen, who finished sixth in his rookie season in the PCWRC category, has a challenging season ahead of him. The Finn`s only target is to win the championship.
In Finland interest over PCWRC is rising because of the duel between Teiskonen and another Finnish driver: Jari-Matti Latvala.
“Jari-Matti is my good friend, but of course it makes no difference in the competitions. I try to beat him as well as the others,” said Teiskonen.
Aki Teiskonen`s car will come from Japanese SYMS racing team`s Group N Subaru, just like last year. Teiskonen signed a new contract with the team last weekend in Mexico. “The contract is a bit better than last year. Now we got also Japanese shock absorber manufacturer TEIN with us,” explained the Finn.
Last season left Teiskonen hungry
Teiskonen´s last season left him hungry. His first two rallies ended in retirements, then in June for Turkey he got his first points and after Neste Rally in Jyväskylä, he was among the fastest in every rally. He took two wins in a row from Finland to Great Britain.
“It could have been a whole different season without the unlucky start, but this challenge there is no place for excuses. Now it`s a new season and I have a new chance to show what I can do,” mentioned Teiskonen. “I believe I have good chances to win the championship in a familiar team and on mostly familiar roads. I now have much more experience of the tough Mediterranean roads and Japan,” added Teiskonen.
Every driver in the PCWRC category competes in six rallies during the season. Teiskonen`s season starts in Argentina on 28th of April.
