One day ahead of the opening of the 2005 OMV ADAC Rallye (25 to 28 August), the organisers are ready to go. Over 3,000 ADAC volunteers and 500 police officers from the Rhineland-Palatinate and the Saarland are concentrating on the rally region around Trier, Baumholder and St. Wendel.
Says Clerk of the Course Armin Kohl: "Road works along the WRC course will be completed just in time for the rally circus to roll in without any potential bottlenecks."
At the ADAC depot, the shipping crates containing the materials for route marking and spectator signage are ready to create all the closed and well laid- out special stages for the 61 teams from 20 nations that have entered the rally to perform their rally acrobatics and also provide some expected 200,000 spectators with their best view of this great sporting event.
ADAC will set up 74 official spectator points along the 19 special stages and will also provide the required spectator services. With the SUPER Ticket packages available at ADAC local offices at €60.00 apiece, fans have access to all special stages including the St. Wendel Super Special Stage and the central service area on Lake Bostal. A lot of information such as maps, a programme and much more will also be available.
The official 116 page OMV ADAC Rallye magazine and programme provides an up- close look behind the scenes of the WRC. It contains exclusive stories, background and event information, maps and an autograph booklet. It is available for €5.00 at ADAC offices, news stands and petrol stations throughout the rally region.
After the sporting events of each leg of the rally, there will be fun and entertainment for the fans not only in Trier but also at the Baumholder Old Town Fest and in St. Wendel. Each night Thursday 25 through Sunday 28 August, a Rally Party with live bands Rally Radio RPR1 as well as a Brewers` Fest hosted by seven local breweries will take place in Trier`s "Viehmarkt" square.
