Twenty eight-year-old Stepan Vojtech`s WRC debut at the OMV ADAC Rallye was quite successful so far. A better result would nevertheless have been possible. Several minor problems prevented faster times.
Stepan Vojtech had wished for rain on the first day. His hopes were crushed for at the start of his main sponsor`s rally the sun was shining and temperatures were considerably higher than at the shakedown on Thursday.
The OMV driver started out quite speedy and was in 15th place after SS 1. Vojtech lost time due to difficult road conditions, clutch problems and a stalled engine though he still maintained 15th position after three special stages of leg one. But his jinxed luck was to continue: “I lost some time on SS 4 due to a lingering tyre damage. Then I wrestled with the gas pressure and slight gear problems. Since every second counts with such a top field I lost one place.”
Outlook
But Stepan Vojtech has plans for tomorrow: “Most of all I want to keep the Peugeot 206 WRC on the road. I don`t feel any pressure at my WRC debut, I can freely go at it and offer a good show to the audience. The OMV ADAC Rallye is perfectly organised. It is a beautiful rally for me, mostly because it`s my first WRC event, of course.”
