Rally GB his final race this season with FordFord privateer and Rally Norway-sponsored Henning Solberg will drive his last rally for Ford this season at Wales Rally GB.
With season-best results of 4th in Cyprus and 5th in Sweden, as well as showing blistering pace in Finland as he fought for the final day top spot, Solberg is hoping to finish on a high.
"I want to start Rally GB at the same pace I finished Rally Finland,” he said. “Provided there are no unforeseen hurdles, I think that would bring us into the top five or six.”
Henning made his asphalt debut last weekend when he was invited by the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) to take part as a guest driver in the Porsche Carerra Cup event in Våler, Norway. He came fourth in Sunday`s race.
"It was actually fantastic fun! Although I can only compare handling a car with ballast in the back to driving a sledgehammer!” Henning said. "Seriously, I think my result is proof that asphalt is not going to be my biggest challenge in WRC.”
Henning`s co-driver Cato Menkerud suffered a vertebral fracture in the much- reported SS5 in Rally Finland. He has had extensive treatment since and feels ready for Wales.
"I certainly wouldn`t be sitting alongside Henning if it had been Rally Finland next week but the characteristics of Wales Rally GB are totally different. So my back won`t be holding us back, that`s for sure.” said Menkerud.
