Great Britain : OMV World Rally TeamThe afternoon of the second day of the Wales Rally GB went by without any grave problems for the OMV World Rally Team (Citroen Xsara WRC). After 13 of 17 special stages Manfred Stohl lies only 16,1 seconds behind Galli (Mitsubishi) in 8th place, therefore still within scoring ranks. Teammate Xavier Pons improved by one rank to 15th place in the afternoon.
Full attack
“Faster than ever“. That was how OMV driver Manfred Stohl had already described the Wales Rally GB in the morning of leg two. And the 33-year-old Austrian is faster than ever himself. After two days he is only 3:01,3 minutes behind leader and WRC-dominator Sebastien Loeb (Fra/Citroen Xsara WRC) in eighth overall place.
The Viennese had never been closer at this point in a rally. Stohl: “This is a good feeling in itself. But I definitely want to catch Galli for 16 seconds are very close. Which means that I`ll go full attack tomorrow.“ The good feelings are shared by the OMV World Rally Team since they are still the best private team at this rally – and want to remain so till the finishing line has been crossed.
No more bad luck
After four punctures and the stalling of his engine Xavier Pons had been ready for the worst. But the four special stages of the afternoon went by without any grave incidents. On the contrary, the 25-year-old Spaniard even made up one rank and now lies in 15th overall place. Pons: “But I want more. Which means that tomorrow we will give our all.“
