This weekend in JapanAki Teiskonen has won his last two rallies, Rally of Great Britain and Neste Rally Finland. His win over Neil McShea in his home race was particularly satisfying for the Subaru driver.
“I am going to Japan on positive mind and try to get a third one in a row,” tells a cheerful Aki Teiskonen before Rally Japan. “Now I hope to win against Toshi Arai, who is second in PCWRC championship. He has home advantage in Japan. My other main opponent is Marcos Ligato, who is third in the standings.”
Nasser Al-Attiyah, who leads the series with 31 points, will not compete in Japan. Teiskonen is 8th in the standings with 13 points.
Aki believes in his chances
At the beginning of the week Teiskonen will test his vehicle briefly to get the setups right for the weekend. “That should be enough. In the last two rallies my car has been fine. I`ve had only small everyday problems, but nothing that hampers driving,” he says.
Teiskonen believes he has good chances in Japan. “Stage roads in Japan are fast and in good condition. I`m at my best on roads like that. The faster the roads, the better for me.”
