Australia : Team TeiskonenAki Teiskonen´s Rally Australia has started promisingly. He is fourth in the PCWRC series and 15th in the entire competition after Friday`s stages.
“I`m getting used to these roads, but I still have to take more risks than those who know them better,” Teiskonen said about the challenging Australian roads.
Bob Hermans, the manager of Teiskonen`s team was very happy with his driving. “Aki drove very well. This is his first time here and he managed to be second and third on today`s stages. There are drivers with much experience of Australia, like Arai and Higgins. Driving faster than them is very good job,” Hermans said. “Ligato and Beltrán were forced to retire after first stage, which must have been a good warning for Aki that these roads are not easy.”
Top time is tomorrow`s goal
Teiskonen has set himself a goal to get a top time on tomorrow`s stages. It could have been possible today without small mistakes.
“On eight stage I got two seconds behind Arai, but I drove too long on one crossroads and spinned once. Those mistakes cost me 5-7 seconds,” Teiskonen explained.
“On next stage we drove off the road and lost about the eight seconds that Higgins was faster than me,” he added. “Of course those kinds of mistakes are always a threat when you drive with a lot of risk, but I hope I can avoid them tomorrow.”
