Rally Australia : Barratt / PCWRC - FinishNatalie Barratt (Subaru Impreza SpecC) had sweat on her brow when she reached the finish of the Telstra Rally Australia.
It had been the professed goal of the British OMV driver to cross the finishing line at the season`s finale of the Production Car World Rally Championship. But prior to that there was a moment of shock in store for the OMV duo Barratt and co Kaj Lindström. They skidded into a tree on SS 24. Luckily only the driver`s door was damaged.
SupeRally makes finishing possible
Natalie Barratt had imagined things to go differently at the season`s finale. But she already had to retire on the first special stage on Friday. Thanks to the SupeRally regulation the Brit was able to compete again on Saturday and she scored very good times. And the OMV driver, nominated for sportswoman of the year in England, was able to hold her own on Sunday as well.
Barratt: "I absolutely wanted to reach the finish here. Unfortunately the retirement on Friday didn`t allow for more. But it was real fun nontheless." A moment of shock occured on SS 24 when Barratt crashed into a tree on the driver`s side. Though the Subaru remained intact, Natalie had to climb out on the co-driver`s side at the final service since her door wouldn`t open. In the end she reached eleventh place in the PCWRC. In the WRC final results the Brit finished 16th with two points to her account.
