Moving up to the World Rally Championship
A terrific career boost for a Red Bull Junior: the Austrian Andreas Aigner will race with Skoda in the 2006 World Rally Championship.
Baumschlager Rallye Racing (BRR)—that`s the name of the new private team that will start in the 2006 Rally World Championship. Their number one driver is already set: the Styrian Andreas Aigner, 21 years old, rally talent and a Red Bull Rally Junior.

Andreas was discovered two years ago. This year, he`s already made a name for himself at several Rally WC races in Group N. With BBR, the young Austrian will climb behind the wheel of one of the two Skoda Fabia WRCs. Skoda, no longer a development team in the 2006 Rally WC, is also on board with BRR as a sponsor.

The driver of the second Skoda Fabia WRC will need to possess international experience—who that may be has yet to be determined. Team director Raimund Baumschlager, in any case, is convinced of the potential of his team`s rookie, and he sees in him those qualities necessary to race in the front of the pack. “He can push ahead into the elite of the world`s best rally drivers.”

Both drivers can expect ideal working conditions. “Our support team,” says Baumschlager, “will consist to 60% of mechanics and to 40% of personnel from our rally team who have already proved themselves. That`s a good mix, especially since everyone will be highly motivated.”

The two Fabias will compete in the “Manufacturer 2” category, which applies to all teams that race according to the current WRC technical standards. In the “Manufacturer 1” category, the use of further technological developments is allowed.
